About Me
I’m going to start this by saying that if you don’t have an elevator pitch, a quick way to describe yourself to strangers at a conference, or thought about how you could add value to this world, this is your sign to get working on that. One of the individuals who gave me a long term perspective early on in my career was Jim Rohn, heavily suggesting his recordings.
My name is Christian Galvan (GAWL-VON) and I’m an Information Security Professional who loves to write. I grew up in Northern Virginia, the hotspot for Tech & Real Estate. I’m currently based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. The first time a laptop of mine caught malware was when I was in middle school and since I was intrigued. Then when I was in High School one of my friends’ parents noticed I loved computers and recommended that I look into Cybersecurity as it might be of interest to me, they were right. In 2014, I officially started keeping up with trends by getting familiar with OWASP Top 10, Fundamental Linux CLI, and reading the latest hacks.
Personal Interests & Hobbies
My passion in life is putting myself through intellectual and physical challenges which will increase my competency and skills to better serve my community. I enjoy sharing knowledge with others and helping them improve their quality of life which can range from health, fitness, technology, history, discipline, and security. Breaking a sweat at the gym has always been fun until the day I met martial arts. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is my favorite activity outside of work. If you like my content, sending me grappling apparel will keep me energized. Traveling the world with my partner is also on the bucket list for the near future.
Life View
Everything in life is earned through sweat, tears, hard work, and trusting in our Lord Jesus Christ. There was a great talk on the Joe Rogan Podcast where Marc Andreessen mentioned that nowadays everyone wants to tear down the Christian Values yet our entire western culture is built on it. For those who dislike religion, whatever you dedicate most of your time has become your own god. For many that’s money, physical pleasure, or an activity. It’s human nature to worship that’s why we tend to get so passionate about different topics.
I believe that the best way to learn is through a pragmatic approach through trial and error, not through a victim mentality where an individual gives up before trying. There has been a major shift in society the past 10 years where people want to be rewarded for virtue signaling instead of providing actual tangible results and uniting people. We live in such a beautiful country with more freedoms than anywhere else. The least we could do is treat everyone with respect and recognize those who are serving our society by leaving it a better place.
